Invest in Canada is looking for a part-time student to support our Finance team to identify, analyze, and evaluate geographical, economic, and industry data points in relation to foreign direct investment and synthesize their findings. This position will work with and report to the Director, Finance.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Invoice Processing: Handle the processing of incoming invoices, ensure accuracy and proper documentation, and submit for payment approval. 
  • Data Entry: Input financial data into the financial system with precision and attention to detail. 
  • Ad-Hoc Tasks: Assist the finance and procurement teams with various ad-hoc tasks and projects as needed. 
  • Financial System Support: Provide support with the maintenance and updating of financial records and systems. 
  • Report Generation: Help generate financial reports and documents for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Reconciliation: Assist with account reconciliation and ensure all financial records are accurate and up-to-date. 
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records and documentation of financial transactions. 
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with team members to resolve any issues or discrepancies. 
  • Compliance: Ensure all financial practices comply with company policies and relevant regulations. 

Requirements

  • Active Bachelor’s degree (second year or above) with a focus in finance.
  • Experience in accounting operations (accounts payable, journal entries, month-end reconciliations). 
  • Experience working directly with recognized financial systems (such as GX, SAP, FreeBalance). 
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures.  
  • Experience in researching, analyzing and reconciling financial information and providing related advisory services. 
  • Knowledge of accounting methods, practices and principles.  
  • Ability to establish, manage and maintain accounting controls and processes. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
  • Strong time management skills.
