Invest in Canada is looking for an Events Officer to assist with the planning and execution of Invest in Canada events and/or Invest in Canada’s participation in larger events across Canada or on an international scale. Reporting to the Manager, Events, this role will collaborate with internal and external resources to ensure the execution of events are in line with Invest in Canada’s overall event strategy.

  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Primary responsibilities for this role may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Execute IIC events including, but not limited to, planning, organizing and consulting with key stakeholders to determine objectives and event requirements, coordinating with service providers for required services and works alongside staff at the event site to ensure all details are coordinated efficiently.
  • Manages on-the-ground logistical challenges and uses sound judgment regarding when to escalate issues to the Manager, Events or Director of Events as required.
  • Track and monitor financial resources associated with individual events to ensure compliance with IIC’s travel and hospitality policies.
  • Assists with the tracking, monitoring and reporting of event outcomes in order to identify and advise on areas of improvement.
  • Supports with the management and execution of business agreements with suppliers and partners.

 

Requirements: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Event Management, Marketing or related field
  • 3-5 years of technical experience.
  • Combination of broad knowledge of event management, project management, marketing or in a related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills, project management skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong client service focus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and think creatively in order to adapt and re-prioritize according to changing demands.
