Invest in Canada is looking for an Events Officer to assist with the planning and execution of Invest in Canada events and/or the organization’s participation in larger events across Canada or on an international scale. Reporting to the Director of Events, this role will collaborate with internal and external resources to ensure the execution of events are in line with Invest in Canada’s overall event strategy.
  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and execute events in alignment with event objectives and requirements 
  • Coordinate with service providers for required services and works alongside staff at the event site to ensure all details are coordinated efficiently
  • Manage on-the-ground logistical challenges and uses sound judgment regarding when to escalate issues as required
  • Consulting with key stakeholders internally and externally 
  • Track and monitor financial resources associated with individual events to ensure compliance with travel and hospitality policies
  • Assist with the tracking, monitoring and reporting of event outcomes in order to identify and advise on areas of improvement
  • Support with the management and execution of business agreements with suppliers and partners

 

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Event Management, Marketing or related field
  • 3-5 years of technical experience in event management 
  • Broad knowledge of event management, project management, marketing or in a related field
  • Excellent organizational skills, project management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong client service focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve and think creatively in order to adapt and re-prioritize according to changing demands
